JPG files are significantly smaller than PNG for photographs and complex images. A PNG photo can be 5-10× larger than the equivalent JPG at 85% quality. JPG is also more widely supported by social media platforms, email clients, and print services. Converting reduces storage usage and speeds up website loading times.
JPG uses lossy compression, so some image data is mathematically discarded. At 80-90% quality, the difference is invisible to the human eye for photographs. For images with sharp edges, solid colors, text, or logos, PNG retains better quality — do not convert those. For photographic images, JPG at 85% is the sweet spot: visually lossless but much smaller.
JPG does not support transparency (alpha channel). When converting a PNG with a transparent background, the transparent areas must be filled with a solid color. White is the default, which works for most use cases. Use the background color picker to choose black, gray, or any custom color to match your use case.

Yes. Enable the Resize option and set your max width and/or height in pixels. Choose Fit mode to maintain the aspect ratio (recommended), Fill for exact dimensions, or Width/Height only. Resizing happens simultaneously with conversion — you get a smaller JPG in one step.
EXIF data is metadata embedded in image files — it includes camera model, GPS location, date taken, lens info, and more. Stripping EXIF removes this metadata from the output JPG, which protects your privacy when sharing images online and also slightly reduces file size.
Yes. This tool accepts PNG, WebP, BMP, and GIF files as input and converts them to JPG (or WebP/PNG as output). The same quality, background, and resize settings apply to all input formats.
