Common questions about image cropping
How do I crop to an exact pixel size? ▼
Enter the exact width and height in the Output Size fields on the left panel. Enable Lock to maintain aspect ratio while resizing. The downloaded image will be exactly those pixel dimensions.
Does cropping reduce image quality? ▼
Cropping itself removes pixels outside the selection — it does not degrade quality of the remaining pixels. For export, use PNG for lossless quality, or set JPG/WEBP quality to 90%+ for near-lossless results.
Is my photo uploaded to a server? ▼
Never. All processing uses the HTML5 Canvas API in your browser. Your image stays on your device throughout. The tool works offline after first page load.
How does circle crop work? ▼
Select the ⭕ Circle ratio preset. The crop area becomes circular. The downloaded PNG has a transparent background outside the circle. Use PNG format for circle crops — JPG does not support transparency.
What is the rule of thirds grid? ▼
The rule of thirds divides the frame into a 3×3 grid. Placing subjects on the intersections creates more dynamic, visually interesting compositions than centering. Click the 3×3 button in the toolbar to toggle the grid.
Can I undo a crop? ▼
Click "Reset All" in the left panel to restore the original image at any time. All adjustments, rotations, filters, and crop areas are cleared and the original is reloaded.
